“Be a Recycling Hero!” Campaign in Full Swing!

Our popular“Be a Recycling Hero!” campaign is once again in full swing this year – with a strong focus on community environmental leadership.

Initiated in 2020 by Encorp Atlantic (the organization behind Re-Centre), the “Be a Recycling Hero!” campaign aims to raise awareness on reducing litter in outdoor public spaces – especially when it comes to empty beverage containers so easy to reuse and recycle. The campaign encourages New Brunswickers to become Recycling Heroes by embracing a zero-tolerance policy towards littering, speaking up when they see someone littering, and making sure always to recycle their empty beverage containers. This year, the campaign’s ads are featured on recycling bins in tourism destinations, city buses, electronic billboards, and television screens in restaurants and supermarkets, as well as in newspapers, on websites and on social media.

The 2021 campaign also featured the launch of a Recycling Heroes Community Cleanup Grants Program this past spring to inspire environmental leadership at the grassroots level by supporting litter cleanup events that beautify beaches, parks, playgrounds, trails, etc.  Stories from the 2021 grant recipients are currently being showcased on Encorp`s website and Facebook page

Finally, the 2021 campaign is seeing the continuation of Encorp’s partnership with Festival Inspire – a public art organization based in Moncton. Encorp’s sponsorship supports the creation and installation of beautiful environmental education/awareness murals throughout the province, plus Encorp’s Re-Mobile is on tour with the festival! New Brunswickers are encouraged to visit a mural creation site in their community and drop off some empty beverage containers at the Re-Mobile travelling depot for a special bottle drive fundraiser benefiting local charities in each region of the Inspire New Brunswick 2021 Tour – including Moncton this week from July 12 to 17.  Keep an eye on Festival Inspire’s Facebook page for more details.
