How It Works

Put Empty Containers in Re-Centre Bags + Tag Your Bags

Start recycling by taking out a Re-Centre bag and having it handy wherever it is most convenient for you to collect your empty beverage containers.

Place your empty beverage containers in the Re-Centre bag:

  • Make sure to rinse and empty all beverage containers.
  • Fill up the bag all the way to the top. Just leave enough room to tie the bag tight.
  • Leave the bag half-full if you are putting a lot of glass bottles in it.
  • There is no need to sort your empty beverage containers by type (glass, plastic, aluminum, steel, Tetra Pak/gabletop, etc. ) prior to putting them in the bag.
  • Refillable glass beer bottles can be kept in their original cardboard cases and these cases placed inside the bag.

Once your Re-Centre bag is full, tie it up tight by using the four tabs to make a good knot.  Then, place a tag (bar-coded sticker) on the bag.

(Bar-coded sticker sheets are included with the Re-Centre bags.)

Drop Off Your Re-Centre Bags

Bring your full Re-Centre bags to the self-serve Re-Centre depot of your choice. You can choose to bring just one bag or as many as you want.

1. Scan your Re-Centre card or key tag and open the door to start the transaction.

(Your card – and key tag – are the only items that will work when scanned to unlock and open the depot doors. )

2. Scan each of your Re-Centre bags, one at a time.

(Our computer system will link each bag to your card so that we’re able to credit your account.)

3. Drop your Re-Centre bags inside the depot and close the door to end the transaction.

Check Your Balance & Access Your Money

Within 3 business days after your visit to a Re-Centre depot, your container count and refund balance is updated in your Re-Centre online account. Watch your money accumulate online and access your funds when you need them.
